China IC Industry Breaks Traditional Cycles With Q1 Shipments Matching Q4 2025 Levels

Woofun AI reports that Wang Junjie, executive secretary-general of the China Semiconductor Industry Association, addressed the 2026 China (Shenzhen) Integrated Circuit Summit on June 26. He stated that China’s integrated circuit industry departed from traditional cyclical patterns in the first quarter, with shipment volumes remaining virtually equivalent to those recorded in the fourth quarter of the previous year.

Domestic integrated circuit manufacturing growth led the broader industry during this period. Recent estimates project the global semiconductor market could surpass $1.5 trillion in 2026.

However, structural supply-demand imbalances persist: memory manufacturers experienced significant profit increases, while rising prices in wafer foundry and packaging testing services compressed margins for terminal device manufacturers, particularly in the smartphone sector.
