Woofun AI reports that Andre Cronje has issued a formal statement clarifying his historical and current role within Sonic Labs, formerly known as Fantom. Cronje explicitly denies being the founder of the Fantom company or its original token project, correcting public misconceptions that conflate his technical contributions with corporate governance. He notes that he joined as a technical advisor in 2018 and was appointed director on December 13, 2022, serving primarily as the original technical architect for the Fantom executable network and later as Chief Technology Officer for Sonic Labs.
Cronje emphasized that he did not design, lead, or execute the migration from FTM to S, nor did he manage the Sonic airdrop or determine tokenomics, distribution, or incentive structures. He maintains that the Ethereum ERC-20 version of FTM and the Opera network should continue to be supported rather than halted. Following the completion of the transition, Cronje will withdraw from Sonic Labs' business decisions to focus exclusively on the Flying Tulip project.
