Woofun AI reports that WeChat has initiated a limited grayscale test for its native AI assistant, Xiaowei. The customer service division confirmed the tool is currently in an internal testing phase, designed to integrate deeply with the platform's ecosystem.

Xiaowei enables users to execute native WeChat functions—such as adjusting settings, dispatching messages, and initiating calls—via text or voice commands. The assistant operates on a hybrid architecture, combining Tencent's self-developed AI models with selected high-quality open-source frameworks. This deployment spans multiple operating systems, signaling a strategic push toward conversational interface integration.
