Woofun AI reports that Ben Goertzel, Chairman of the AGI Society and Chief Scientist of Sophia the Robot, contends that Artificial General Intelligence is too critical to be governed by venture capital or a handful of tech firms. He advocates for an open, decentralized AGI system built on blockchain networks as an alternative to the closed models employed by OpenAI and Anthropic.
Goertzel is executing this strategy through SingularityNET and the 'Artificial General Intelligence Alliance,' aiming for collective user ownership of AI capabilities. He emphasizes that open-source code is insufficient without distributed infrastructure to prevent control by computing power giants. The proposed 'AI Agent Economy' will allow users to deploy collaborative agents for paid services while abstracting the underlying blockchain complexity. Goertzel anticipates AGI emergence between 2027 and 2030, warning that centralized development could worsen global inequality. His first AI agent product, Omega Claw, is slated for imminent release.
