Google Deepens MediaTek Partnership for Triggerfish TPU v9 Chip Targeting AI Agents
2026-06-22 14:44

Per Woofun AI, Google has intensified its strategic alliance with MediaTek to develop the Triggerfish, an advanced variant of the TPU v9 series. This high-value order is exclusively awarded to MediaTek, positioning the new chip to resolve critical CPU and memory bottlenecks in AI Agent and reinforcement learning workflows.

The Triggerfish architecture features a two-to-three-fold increase in SRAM capacity relative to the base Humufish model, alongside an upgrade from HBM4 to HBM4E memory and dedicated analog chips for specialized AI tasks. While the standard version anticipates shipments of 4 to 5 million units, Google has added 1 to 2 million orders for Triggerfish. Mass production is slated for 2028, with unit prices roughly 30% higher than the baseline, serving as a significant growth catalyst for MediaTek.
