Woofun AI reports that Samsung Electronics has unveiled the industry’s fastest Universal Flash Storage 5.0 solution, engineered to empower edge AI applications. The new standard achieves a peak bandwidth of 10.8 GB/s, with sequential read speeds matching that figure and sequential write speeds reaching 9.5 GB/s. These performance metrics represent more than a twofold increase over the previous UFS 4.1 generation.

This technological leap significantly enhances mobile memory storage and processing capabilities while improving efficiency and reducing package size. Consequently, the solution offers a superior on-device AI experience. Samsung is scheduled to commence mass production of the UFS 5.0 drive in the fourth quarter of this year, supporting a maximum capacity of up to 1TB.
