Woofun AI reports that crypto-backed political action committees are accelerating expenditures in pivotal U.S. primaries as legislators strive to advance the CLARITY Act prior to the July 4 congressional recess. On Tuesday, major Democratic primaries in Maryland and New York coincided with intensified lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill, where senators and industry advocates continued negotiations on digital asset legislation.
Protect Progress, an affiliate of Fairshake, allocated approximately $5.5 million to support Maryland State Delegate Adrian Boafo in the 5th Congressional District primary, where he competes against over 20 candidates for the seat vacated by Steny Hoyer.
Concurrently, Protect Progress directed roughly $1.5 million toward Representative Ritchie Torres in New York’s 15th District, supplemented by $300,000 in advertising from Fellowship PAC. Earlier in the cycle, Fairshake invested about $12 million in Alabama’s Republican Senate primary runoff backing Barry Moore. As these political maneuvers unfold, lawmakers remain focused on resolving committee language, ethics provisions, and illicit finance measures within the CLARITY Act. The Digital Chamber facilitated over 50 meetings between members and lawmakers on Tuesday, alongside a tax-focused fly-in scheduled for Wednesday.
Meanwhile, gaming industry groups lobbied for provisions affecting prediction market platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket, though such proposals currently face limited momentum as legislators prioritize core legislative components.
