According to Woofun AI, TSMC management has instructed its business development and sales teams to pursue fee increases across all advanced process nodes since the beginning of the year. Drawing inspiration from memory chip manufacturers who successfully raised prices amid industry prosperity, TSMC aims to capitalize on this trend by integrating its technological leadership and value proposition into customer communications. This strategy emphasizes the competitive advantages of its advanced manufacturing capabilities, laying the groundwork for broader pricing adjustments.
Per disclosures to customers, the price increase encompasses all processes at 7nm and below, significantly expanding the scope beyond initial concerns. Data indicates that while the 3nm process represented only 25% of TSMC's wafer revenue in the first quarter, the entire advanced process portfolio accounted for 75% of sales. Although specific figures vary by customer and node, market consensus estimates the increase at approximately 5% to 10%, with some clients already required to adjust cost structures in purchase orders.
