Woofun AI reports that the Trump administration is intensifying pressure on Meta to submit its artificial intelligence models for voluntary security assessments, focusing on identifying vulnerabilities and technical capabilities. Meta currently stands as the sole major U.S. AI firm that has not executed a voluntary assessment agreement with federal authorities. In contrast, industry leaders including Microsoft, Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, and xAI have already committed to having their models reviewed by the Artificial Intelligence Standards and Innovation Center, a subsidiary of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Meta spokesperson Francis Brennan confirmed that negotiations regarding the specific terms of the agreement are ongoing, expressing optimism for a near-term signing. This regulatory push aligns with a presidential executive order signed by Trump on June 2, which mandates that technology companies provide the government with a 30-day evaluation window prior to releasing new models. The order further requires the establishment of a specific review process by the end of July.
