Woofun AI reports that Sentient Foundation has launched a $42 million initiative to fund open-source general artificial intelligence development. The program utilizes non-dilutive grants and investments to support developers, researchers, and enterprises in maintaining accessible AI infrastructure and models.

Alibaba Cloud, Franklin Templeton, Princeton University, and the Indian Institute of Science have endorsed the effort. Applications are currently being accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis.
