Woofun AI reports that the Korean Personal Information Protection Commission has imposed a fine of 210 million won on Bithumb. The regulator mandated the exchange to rectify its procedures regarding the cross-border transfer of personal information.

The investigation revealed that between September and November last year, Bithumb transferred user data, including member IDs, order details, names, wallet addresses, and dates of birth, without obtaining separate consent. This occurred while sharing order books and conducting virtual asset transfers with overseas exchanges. Although users were informed that data would be sent to the Stellar exchange, it was actually transmitted to other system operators.
