Woofun AI reports that Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman stated in an interview that fears of mass unemployment driven by AI are exaggerated. He argued that while artificial intelligence may alter the workflows of approximately 50% of white-collar workers, it will generate new employment avenues rather than eliminate positions, drawing a parallel to the historical impact of Microsoft Excel.
Garman highlighted the strategic value of junior staff in the current technological landscape, noting their superior capacity for learning and adaptation. Amazon intends to recruit more than 11,000 entry-level software development engineers and interns worldwide this year. He further indicated that future recruitment will prioritize candidates' "learning ability" and "adaptability" over their possession of "existing specific skills".
