Woofun AI reports that Asian AI companies are accelerating the launch of rival frontier models in response to U.S. export restrictions on Anthropic's advanced systems. Chinese firm 360 Security Technology introduced "Tulongfeng," claiming competitiveness with Anthropic's "Mythos," while Japanese startup Sakana AI released "Fugu," an agent-focused model comparable to "Fable 5."
Sakana AI co-founder David Ha described the timing as coincidental but emphasized that "distributed intelligence is a realistic hedge against the risks of centralization." Meanwhile, 360 founder Zhou Hongyi identified AI vulnerability detection as a "national strategic asset," warning of "one-way transparency" risks. These developments highlight a growing trend of differentiation within the regional AI ecosystem as manufacturers seek to mitigate dependency on restricted U.S. technologies.
