Woofun AI reports that GS anticipates South Korea will supply 30% of humanoid robot components by 2035. The country's automotive industry experience translates to production capacity for parts like actuators, which mimic human muscles and joints. Actuators currently account for approximately 50% of a humanoid robot's bill of materials. South Korea holds an advantage in actuator production due to technological similarities with automotive components, including power steering, braking systems, and autonomous driving technology. GS noted that several South Korean automotive parts manufacturers have secured positions among key non-Chinese suppliers for critical robot actuators. Paradis Labs stated that South Korea is poised to play a significant role among key non-Chinese suppliers of humanoid robots in the upstream sector. The country also secures a critical position in the AI supply chain through SK hynix and Samsung's memory businesses.
