BIS Identifies AI Bubble Burst and Opaque Financing as Core Global Risks

Woofun AI reports that the Bank for International Settlements identified the potential bursting of the AI bubble, inflation resurgence, and sovereign debt pressures as the three principal risks to global economic prosperity in its latest annual report. The institution warned that underperforming AI investment returns could transform current capital expenditure booms into long-term investment contractions, causing significant macroeconomic turbulence.

The BIS specifically highlighted the risks associated with complex "circular financing" models within the AI industry, such as cross-shareholding and computing power binding procurement agreements between chip manufacturers and AI laboratories or cloud providers. These transactions often lack transparency and carry the risk of multiple asset mortgages.

Furthermore, geopolitical energy shocks could trigger secondary inflation rebounds, while high-leverage hedge fund arbitrage in government bonds may further exacerbate global financial system fragility.
