Woofun AI reports that the Canton Network has deployed the Logical Synchronizer Upgrades via the release of Canton 3.5. This on-chain mechanism allows the new synchronizer infrastructure to run concurrently with the existing network, facilitating a seamless transition that takes only seconds to minutes without requiring data migration or reloading.

The upgrade process involves synchronizer operators deploying new node versions alongside old ones, while validators install software supporting both protocol versions to maintain uninterrupted message processing. On-chain governance determines the schedule, after which the Logical Synchronizer signals validators to automatically switch upon detecting new nodes and verifying consistency. The legacy infrastructure will be phased out after 30 days. Since its 2024 mainnet launch, Canton has executed four protocol upgrades. This mechanism aims to reduce operational burdens on validators and support upcoming features, including token standard upgrades, BFT consensus improvements, and enhanced asset discovery.
