Woofun AI reports that ByteDance intends to conclude the design phase of its upcoming proprietary CPU by the beginning of next year. The company targets mass production and widespread deployment in the second half of 2027 to reinforce its artificial intelligence infrastructure. An initial version of this processor has been utilized internally since late last year. Driven by urgent requirements, the tape-out schedule for the new generation may be accelerated. This initiative aligns with ByteDance’s strategy to expand its chip portfolio and integrate more in-house hardware. To expedite development and secure foundry capacity amidst supply chain constraints, ByteDance is collaborating with U.S. chipmaker Qualcomm.
