Microsoft Deploys 6,000 Staff for Enterprise AI Implementation and Cost Optimization

Woofun AI reports that Microsoft is forming a new department with 6,000 employees to assist enterprise customers in implementing and strategically deploying artificial intelligence technology. These staff members possess expertise in engineering, corporate training, management, and specific vertical industries. Judson Althoff, Microsoft's Executive Vice President of Business Development, stated that due to widespread customer concerns about AI cost escalation, the company will help enterprises optimize AI usage by replacing expensive models with cost-effective solutions. This approach marks a shift from outsourcing low-margin system implementation work to external consulting firms, addressing challenges in deployment and escalating costs in the era of large-scale models. This model of deploying technical engineers to customer sites is emerging as a new battleground for AI giants. Apart from Palantir's initiative, Salesforce, OpenAI, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have recently embarked on similar projects. AWS announced on Tuesday that it is investing $1 billion in a similar field deployment engineer program.
