Brazil VASPs Face Broker-Level Rules From 2027
2026-07-03 16:08

Woofun AI reports that the Brazilian Central Bank issued Resolution No. 580/2026, classifying virtual asset service providers under Category 3. This move subjects VASPs to regulatory requirements identical to those for securities brokers, distributors, and foreign exchange firms.

Effective January 1, 2027, these entities must comply with prudential rules covering risk management, capital adequacy, and information disclosure. By June 30, 2028, all VASPs will be placed in Segment 4, explicitly barring them from the simplified compliance regime of Segment 5.
