Spotify Purges 500K Fake Plays Amid Prediction Market Manipulation Scandal
2026-07-03 18:54

Woofun AI reports that Spotify has demanded Kalshi and Polymarket remove their logos after detecting chart manipulation driven by prediction market incentives. The streaming service clarified it holds no partnership with either platform.

Spotify identified and deleted over 500,000 fake plays that artificially elevated Malcolm Todd's "Earrings" to the top of its charts. This data settled a $3 million Kalshi contract regarding the most played US song in June. Kalshi is investigating the matter, while Polymarket declined to comment.
