Woofun AI reports that Micron Technology has initiated a ¥1.5 trillion expansion of its Western Japan manufacturing facility to produce advanced storage chips. This initiative aligns with the company's global strategy to address artificial intelligence industry demands.

The Japanese government will contribute up to ¥500 billion in subsidies to offset construction costs. The upgraded production line aims to enhance energy and data transmission efficiency for AI services and autonomous vehicles, with shipments expected to commence around summer 2028.
