Woofun AI reports that Ammaar Reshi, Product and Design Lead at Google AI Studio, successfully ported Command & Conquer: Generals - Zero Hour to Mac, iPhone, and iPad. The project recompiled the original engine for Apple Silicon ARM64 architecture rather than using emulation. Reshi utilized Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 model to refactor the engine, addressing iOS sandbox constraints and implementing touchscreen controls. Previous attempts with Opus 4.8 failed. Graphics rendering employs DXVK and MoltenVK to translate DirectX 8 pipelines to Metal API. The code is open-source on GitHub but requires original game files due to copyright. The ported version has a significant memory footprint, posing crash risks on low-memory iPads.
