Woofun AI reports that a leaked survey from a Myanmar scam compound reveals global telecom fraud is shifting toward an "AI industrialization + cross-border crypto payment" model. Fraud networks utilize cryptocurrencies for fund transfers and employ automated tools based on large language models for script generation and identity disguise. These systems rely on OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini to support large-scale social engineering scams. On the financial side, they use on-chain payments and cross-border channels for rapid money laundering, forming an "AI customer acquisition + crypto settlement" structure. Elon Musk's Starlink has become the primary network service provider for these compounds, with a US ISP carrying nearly one-fifth of their traffic. In response, OpenAI stated that scammers' usage of ChatGPT resembles ordinary users, making identification difficult, but noted it blocks approximately 100,000 suspicious accounts monthly. Google indicated its AI models have safety guardrails and emphasized its commitment to "responsible AI development" to limit illegal use.
