Woofun AI reports that Xiaomi has restructured its "Xiao Ai Assistant" technical architecture into three distinct modules. The MiMo Big Model Team, led by Luo Fuli, provides foundational large model capabilities, while Luan Jian’s team manages cloud engineering infrastructure to encapsulate stable interfaces. Core product feature development on the edge is now delegated to the operating system teams of smartphones, automotive terminals, and other devices. Wang Gang, who led the Xiao Ai team for nearly a decade, has been reassigned to the robot business.
This reorganization addresses the need for on-device AI in high-performance terminals. Previously, standardized cloud capabilities limited the hardware potential of smartphones and in-cabin systems due to constraints imposed by low-power devices like speakers. The new structure allows OS teams to develop customized intelligent features leveraging local computing power. Chairman Lei Jun stated Xiaomi will invest at least 60 billion yuan in artificial intelligence over the next three years to reshape the human-vehicle-home ecosystem with the Intelligent Agent paradigm.
