SpaceX and Cursor Launch First Joint AI Model Following $60B Acquisition
2026-07-08 08:24

Woofun AI reports that SpaceXAI and Cursor are launching their first jointly developed AI model as early as Wednesday. This release represents the initial collaborative R&D effort following SpaceX's $60 billion stock acquisition of Cursor. An internal memo indicated the launch was postponed earlier in the week to optimize efficiency. The model features rapid information processing capabilities, allowing it to compete with Anthropic's Opus 4.8 and OpenAI's GPT-5.5 in certain aspects. Tesla and SpaceX employees previously participated in testing the system. Cursor CEO Michael Truell confirmed the model was trained from scratch on xAI's Colossus data center and is designed to directly challenge offerings from Anthropic and OpenAI.
