Woofun AI reports that AI chip startup Positron is negotiating a two-round financing deal totaling approximately $750 million. The first round carries a valuation of $3.5 billion, while the second round is valued at roughly $5 billion.
Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Reno, Nevada, Positron has raised about $309 million to date. Following a $230 million Series B round in February 2026, the company exceeded a $1 billion valuation, attracting investors such as Qatar Investment Authority and Arm Holdings. Positron emphasizes energy efficiency, with its Atlas inference system already shipped to clients including Cloudflare. The firm claims its hardware delivers more than 3.5 times the performance per watt compared to Nvidia products under specific AI inference loads. The next-generation Asimov chip is scheduled to finalize design by late 2026 and begin mass production in early 2027.
