Woofun AI reports that the OpenClaw Foundation is now officially operational to oversee governance, funding, and maintenance of the open-source personal AI agent project. The initiative ensures the platform remains independent under the MIT license, with Peter Steinberger retaining technical leadership.

Initial founding partners include OpenAI, NVIDIA, Microsoft, GitHub, Cloudflare, Vercel, and the University of Michigan. Tencent has joined the consortium, specifically contributing to security, deployment, and infrastructure support for the on-device AI assistant.
