Woofun AI reports that OpenAI AGI Deployment CEO Fidji Simo has resigned from her full-time executive position, transitioning to a part-time advisor role. Simo confirmed that her recovery from a worsening chronic neuroimmune disease is taking longer than anticipated, necessitating a focus on treatment after taking leave in April.

Simo, who joined OpenAI in 2025 and previously led Instacart and the Facebook App, will cede her product and business responsibilities. OpenAI President Greg Brockman, CFO Sarah Friar, and Chief Strategy Officer Jason Kwon will share these duties. Simo stated she has lived with the incurable condition for seven years and plans to engage with AI biomedicine projects Chronicle BioAI and CODA Research.
