Hormuz Vessel Transits Drop 27% Amid US-Iran Tensions, Shipping Costs Rise
2026-07-11 17:28

Woofun AI reports that Strait of Hormuz transit volume declined sharply following renewed US-Iran tensions earlier this week. Vessel counts dropped from 30 to 22 on Thursday compared to the previous day. Since mutual attacks occurred on Tuesday, only two LNG carriers entered the strait, with one exiting.

Braemar LNG noted that shipowners are withdrawing available capacity from the region "until there is more clarity on the geopolitical situation." This reduction in available vessels has led to increased transportation costs.
