Woofun AI reports that a court in São Paulo, Brazil, has ordered Coinbase to refund nearly $100,000 to a user whose funds were lost in an unauthorized transaction from their self-custody wallet. Although Coinbase asserted that the user held sole control over the private keys, the exchange failed to demonstrate that the wallet holder initiated the transfer or that sufficient security protocols were implemented. Citing the Consumer Protection Code, the judge mandated the return of the full amount along with statutory interest.
