Woofun AI reports that South Korea's Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment is developing an early power supply strategy for the Honam region's new semiconductor industrial complex. The ministry intends to identify new Energy Storage System (ESS) and pumped-storage hydropower initiatives via the 12th Basic Plan for Power Supply and Demand.
The 11th Basic Plan projected a requirement of 21.75GW of long-duration energy storage by 2038, accounting for the Yongin semiconductor complex. Authorities previously set a 6.3GW first-phase power target for the southwestern fab cluster, while industry observers project the domestic ESS market will exceed 40 trillion KRW.
