Instagram CSAM Ads Persist Despite Meta's $72B AI Investment

Woofun AI reports that a BBC investigation identified Instagram continuing to serve Child Sexual Abuse Material advertisements in India. A test account encountered approximately 30 such ads within one week, which directed users to Telegram channels for illegal purchases. The Indian government has ordered Meta to remove the content and explain the review mechanism failure within seven days. Meta generated $201 billion in ad revenue in 2025, investing $72.2 billion in AI infrastructure with plans to raise capital expenditure to between $125 billion and $145 billion by 2026. The report attributes these issues to platform governance and business incentives rather than technical shortcomings.
