South Korea's KOSPI index closed at 6,856.83, up 49.9 points or 0.73%, after experiencing an intraday decline of more than 5%. The KOSDAQ index fell 1.92%, also dropping over 5% during the session and triggering a halt in program trading. SK Hynix closed up 3.6% and Samsung Electronics rose 3.3%.
