Woofun AI reports that Samsung Electronics intends to construct a new DRAM wafer fabrication plant at its Giheung campus by repurposing a site originally allocated for research and development. The facility aims for a monthly output of 100,000 wafers, with an internal team formed to initiate construction as early as the third quarter.
The company is also deploying a new production line at the Pyeongtaek P4 plant for sixth-generation HBM4 chips and planning a Yongin fab targeting 2029 production.
Additionally, Samsung is advancing two advanced semiconductor fabs in Gwangju with a combined investment of 400 trillion Korean won. Counterpoint Research forecasts global DRAM market revenue to grow from $150 billion to $210 billion.
