Woofun AI reports that the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has sanctioned cryptocurrency wallets linked to Iran, resulting in the freeze of over $130 million in assets. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed the addresses are associated with the Central Bank of Iran, aiming to curb illegal financial activities involving digital assets.
Tether froze 131 million USDT across four Tron network wallets minutes before the official announcement. On-chain analyst Specter identified these addresses as linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Central Bank of Iran, with funds originating from DTC Pay and Bitso. This follows a pattern of cooperation, including a previous freeze of 344 million USDT in April. To date, Tether has assisted over 340 law enforcement agencies in 65 countries, freezing more than $4.4 billion in total.
