Woofun AI reports that Samsung Electronics is evaluating the outsourcing of backend design services for the I/O Die of Google's 10th-generation 2nm TPU, codenamed "Icefish." The chip, co-designed with MediaTek for AI models like Gemini, splits manufacturing between TSMC's 1.4nm compute processor and Samsung's 2nm I/O Die, with mass production slated for 2028. Samsung has reportedly inquired with design solution partners about requirements, identifying ADTechnology, Gaonchips, and Alphachips as potential contractors. ADTechnology is currently developing the "ADP620" 2nm CPU project, aiming for over 1 trillion KRW in annual revenue by 2029. Gaonchips is preparing for the "K-On-Device AI" initiative, backed by an 800 billion KRW budget from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, while Alphachips views the Google TPU engagement as a key growth driver.
