Anthropic IPO Plans Accelerate Toward October, Pre-Market Talks Underway With Banks

Woofun AI reports that Anthropic, creator of the Claude AI model, is accelerating preparations for a significant initial public offering. Underwriters including Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and JPMorgan Chase have organized preliminary discussions between company leadership and investors to assess institutional interest and capital scale. The firm aims to list as early as October, potentially preceding competitor OpenAI in market entry.

Anthropic secured $65 billion in Series H funding in May, establishing a post-money valuation of $965 billion, while over-the-counter valuations have approached $1.2 trillion. Regulatory uncertainty persists as a key variable; the U.S. Department of War designated Anthropic a national security supply chain risk in March, prompting litigation against the federal government.

Additionally, the Commerce Department briefly restricted foreign access to top-tier models Claude 5 and Opus 5 in June before lifting controls 18 days later.
