Woofun AI reports that DTCC commenced live production trading of tokenized equities and government bonds on Wednesday, transitioning from a testing phase to actual operations. Nearly 40 financial institutions and technology providers, including JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, Vanguard, and the New York Stock Exchange, are participating in this initiative. The first day of trading encompasses use cases such as collateral, repurchase agreements, stocks, margin, and asset transfers. Tokenized assets include Microsoft and Circle stocks, Invesco QQQ Trust, SPDR S&P 500 ETF, iShares Short-Term Treasury ETF, and government bonds of various maturities.
JPMorgan Chase will tokenize a portion of its QQQ holdings. DTCC described this as an initial limited production trading phase, with a full service launch planned for October, allowing institutions holding assets at the clearinghouse to convert securities into tokens. This service operates on DTCC's ComposerX platform, relying on a no-action letter granted to DTC by the SEC last December. DTC, a subsidiary of DTCC, custodies over $114 trillion in securities.
