Global DRAM Shortage Forecast to Hit 28.7EB by 2030 Amid AI Demand Surge

Woofun AI data shows that Citrini Research forecasts a global DRAM supply gap of 28.7EB by 2030, accounting for approximately 18% of total demand. This contrasts with the current global capacity of roughly 40EB. The firm estimates total DRAM demand, including HBM, will reach 157.5EB against a supply of 128.8EB.

Conventional DRAM faces the most severe bottleneck, with supply at 91EB versus 120EB in demand, expanding the shortage ratio from 18% to 25%. Despite capacity expansions by Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron, and Chinese manufacturers, AI-driven demand absorbs new output. This imbalance may keep average selling prices between $1.5 and $2 per Gb, increasing costs for servers and consumer electronics.
