Woofun AI reports that Consensys granted system access to a software developer via a third-party provider, who was subsequently identified as having ties to North Korea. The individual, operating under the alias Tyler Knapp, maintained access for approximately one month before the connection was discovered.
Consensys General Counsel Matt Corva clarified that the individual served as a consultant rather than an employee. Upon discovery, access was immediately revoked, and a comprehensive investigation confirmed that no assets or data were stolen, no malicious code was deployed, and user security remained intact. The company stated it will reevaluate its practices regarding the outsourcing of engineering and development work.
