Woofun AI reports that SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won projects memory chip demand will increase by 50% to 60% next year, while AI semiconductor demand is expected to grow by 60% to 100%. He noted that constrained equipment, personnel, and construction schedules limit supply expansion, potentially widening the supply-demand gap as global enterprises compete for inventory.
Choi stated that current memory chip prices have deviated from normal ranges and warned against restricting supply to maintain margins. He argued that semiconductor firms should prioritize production expansion over price maintenance to avoid attracting new competitors or government intervention.
Additionally, he highlighted infrastructure shortages in GPUs, storage, and power as potential future bottlenecks for the AI industry.
