Woofun AI reports that the South Korean government has released the "Korean Won Internationalization Roadmap" to transition the currency toward free convertibility and establish an offshore settlement network. The Bank of Korea will trial the "Offshore Korean Won Settlement Network" in September, with full operation scheduled for January next year.

The strategy includes building digital asset infrastructure for won-denominated stablecoins and launching a pilot for tokenizing government bonds linked to the central bank digital currency next year.

Additionally, South Korea will join the Bank for International Settlements-led cross-border payment project "Agora".
