Woofun AI reports that Chinese regulators are evaluating stricter export controls on artificial intelligence and semiconductor technologies. The Ministry of Commerce has engaged with firms including Alibaba, ByteDance, and Zhipu to discuss limiting the overseas transfer of training data and restricting foreign access to model weights, though service access remains permitted.
Additionally, proposals under review would prohibit overseas manufacturers such as Qualcomm and TSMC from fabricating advanced chips based on designs from domestic companies like Huawei. Authorities are currently soliciting industry feedback before finalizing any measures.
