Zakura Node Client Launches with 5x Faster Sync and Default Quantum Resilience
2026-07-21 15:53

Woofun AI reports that the Zakura full-node client for Zcash, developed by Project Tachyon and Valar Group, has been officially released. Benchmarks indicate mainnet synchronization completes in approximately 4 hours and 20 minutes, representing a fivefold speed increase over Zebra, while an 11 GB truncated snapshot reduces startup time to roughly 1 minute and 50 seconds.

Zakura integrates with recursive proof and private information retrieval technologies to target long-term throughput exceeding 50,000 transactions per second. The client supports the upcoming Ironwood upgrade, where new funds will default to ZIP 2005 standards for quantum resilience.

Additionally, the Turnstile mechanism will restore verifiability of the ZEC supply cap, and ZIP 318 aims to mitigate migration risks through formal verification of key circuits. The Ironwood activation is scheduled for approximately July 28.
