2026-07-21 17:15

Woofun AI reports that Lucien Lu, Head of AI Infrastructure at XPeng Motors, is resigning to join OpenAI, where he will focus on embodied AI robot development. Lu previously managed a team of approximately 200 engineers responsible for XPeng's end-to-end AI infrastructure, including model training, GPU clusters, and in-house chip compilers. Due to the absence of a designated successor, Lu's team is expected to be divided into three or more independent units. OpenAI is currently recruiting for robotics software and simulation roles, aiming to develop general-purpose robots capable of real-world operation.
