Current supply chain speculation links AMD with Astera Labs for Universal Active Links (UAL) and Broadcom for ESUN, while Gridcore is rumored to be involved in MI500 CPO work with Sivers as a laser supplier. AMD’s prior investment in Ayar Labs also positions Sivers as a potential beneficiary if either Ayar Labs or Gridcore SCALE is confirmed as the optical engine solution. The MI500 is anticipated to utilize a native UAL architecture supporting 256 GPUs per rack via optical links, validating Sivers’ strategic layout across CPO, pluggable modules, and silicon photonics.
