Woofun AI reports that Augustus, a startup developing a licensed Federal Clearing Bank, has completed an $180 million financing round. The capital injection aims to expand USD payment infrastructure as stablecoins influence global finance. Tiger Global Management led the round, which values Augustus at $1 billion. Participants included Hummingbird Ventures, QED Investors, Nubank, Ramp, Circle, and Deel's founders.
Augustus CEO Ferdinand Dabitz stated that the financial services distribution layer faces bottlenecks at the clearing bank level. He noted that traditional clearing systems are slow, lack 24/7 availability, require two days for settlement, and remain closed on weekends.
