Anthropic Acquisition Talks With Physical Intelligence Denied By CEO Despite Spring Discussions

Woofun AI reports that Anthropic has reportedly approached Physical Intelligence for acquisition to address gaps in robotics, though the deal remains unfinalized. Physical Intelligence CEO Karol Hausman has internally denied the acquisition claim, despite reports that discussions occurred earlier this spring. Physical Intelligence is developing a universal robot base model, described by co-founder Sergey Levine as a "robot version of ChatGPT", aiming to control diverse robots via a single 'brain.'

The company has raised over $1 billion and is negotiating another $1 billion in funding at a valuation exceeding $11 billion. Its latest model, π0.7, executes tasks under language guidance without specific training but lacks independent complex multi-step operation capabilities. Anthropic previously tested robot dog control using Claude, primarily for research; acquiring Physical Intelligence would provide direct access to robot control models, training data, and hardware expertise.
