UK HMRC Recovers Over £8M in Crypto Taxes via 502 Investor Settlements

Woofun AI reports that the UK’s HMRC has recovered more than £8 million in unpaid taxes from cryptocurrency investors over a three-year enforcement period. Freedom of information data reveals that 502 individuals entered disclosure settlement agreements with tax authorities regarding crypto-related liabilities in the last two years.

During the 2024/25 tax year, 280 investors reached settlements, generating £3.5 million in revenue. In the subsequent 2025/26 tax year, the number of settlements fell to 222, yet the total collected amount increased to approximately £4.8 million.
