Woofun AI reports that NVIDIA’s 800V HVDC high-voltage DC power supply architecture for next-generation AI data centers is proceeding with mass production as planned, with no adjustments to the technical roadmap. Supply chain sources indicate that previous market concerns regarding a delay until post-2028 stemmed from misinterpretations of the product validation process rather than fundamental changes. Testing of power cabinets, battery backup units, and associated components is progressing smoothly after re-submission for validation.
Delta Electronics is expected to commence small-scale production by the end of Q1 2027, with shipments increasing in Q2 aligned with customer deployment schedules. The timeline extension resulted from additional testing requested by U.S. customers due to potential short-circuit risks identified during initial system validation. Industry insiders emphasize that the issue relates to design optimization and certification timelines, not manufacturing capability. The 800V HVDC architecture operates alongside the 50V internal distribution system in NVIDIA’s Rubin platform, serving distinct high-voltage supply roles. As single-rack power consumption rises toward 600kW to 1MW, 800V HVDC is expected to gain penetration, potentially coexisting with ±400V HVDC as a transitional solution.
